It’s no coincidence that Fred Armisen spent 11 seasons as a cast member of the variety television show Saturday Night Live. The award-winning comedian, who also has successful careers as an actor, musician, screenwriter and producer, is also known for his role in the comedy series Portlandia which he co-created and as the leader of The 8G. Band, the in-house band from Late Night with Seth Meyers..

Biography, ethnicity

Fred Armisen was born Fereydun Robert Armisen to Hildegardt Mirabal and Fereydun Herbert Armisen on December 4, 1966 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, although he was raised in Brazil and New York. Armisen is of American ethnicity but of mixed ancestry; Venezuela through his mother and Germany/Korea through his father.

As a child, Armisen was a fan of rock bands like Devo and The Clash, which made him want to become a musician. He formed a band with his friends in high school, but the band later disbanded while he was going to college. Fred still hoped to be able to achieve his dream, but he wanted to finish his studies at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan first. Somewhere down the line, however, he chose to drop out of school to fully focus on his music career.

Chicago turned out to be Fred Armisens’ choice destination when he moved to town in 1988 and joined the punk rock band Trenchmouth as a drummer. Later, in the 90s, he started playing background drums for the performance art company Blue Man Group. During this time, Armisen began to show interest in an acting career. He managed to land roles on the television series Crank Yankers and Adult Swim, which directly landed him his first starring role on Saturday Night Live in 2002. Two years after his first appearance, series creator Lorne Michaels, was promoted to acting repertoire and making him only the second Latino cast member on the show.

Thanks to the exposure received by SNL, Armisen was now able to appear in several Hollywood productions such as EuroTrip (2004), Cop Out (2010), and Our Family Wedding (2010). He then left the comedy series in 2014 as the third longest-serving cast member, but continues to appear in movies and series while listening to music.

Family – his parents

Fred Armisen is of mixed ancestry. His father, Fereydun Herbert Armisen, was born to a Korean father and a German mother in Lower Saxony, Germany. The elderly Armisen then moved to the United States, where he found a job at IBM, a multinational information technology company, before meeting and marrying Hildegardt, a Venezuelan immigrant teacher.

Is Fred Armisen gay or married to a woman?

Fred Armisen is definitely not gay, although he has featured as a gay guy in sketches for SNL in the past. Its flawless portrayal of these characters has sparked speculation, but we can confirm that’s not the case. If you need more proof, here is the story of his relationships with women.

In 1998, Armisen exchanged vows with English singer Sally Timms. This marriage lasted six years before the couple broke up in 2004. A few years later, he began dating The West Wing TV series actress Elisabeth Moss. The couple got engaged in January 2009 and in October of that year they married in a lavish wedding ceremony on Long Island, New York. However, just eight months after the start of the marriage, the couple broke up. Three months after their split, in September 2010, Moss filed for divorce which was finalized the following year.

Does he have a girlfriend?

After his second marriage ended, FredArmisen stepped away from the love scene for about three years before discovering he was now in a relationship with actress Natasha Lyonne. The pair started seeing each other in 2014 and have been among the objects ever since. It’s unclear if the wedding bells would ring anytime soon as the couple look happy with their current union.

Emmy nominee Ms Lyonne is best known for her roles in the Netflix series Orange is the New Black as well as the American Pie film series.
